Recertifying ISO 9001:2000
An important step in the process of continued improvement.
BHS staff spared no efforts in preparing for Auditing for ISO 9001:2000 recertifying. Manuals, norms, flow charts and procedures were updated. There were several training courses, with indicators devised, analyzed and divulged. Internal Auditing went through all of the processes of Organization, pin-pointing non-conformity and implementing various Corrective and Preventive Actions.
The past two months were of considerable involvement, participation, and work, with a desire to obtain good results predominant. When an organization truly focuses on attaining an objective, rarely will it not be attained. The DQS auditing team, consisting of two most experienced professionals - Cláudio Dias Rodrigues and Alberto Althoff - detected a significant development in the BHS System for Quality Management in relation to the last auditing. They recommended recertifying in accordance with the ISO 9000 norm, no evidence of Non-Conformity having been detected - although several opportunities for improvement were identified.
Important now is not merely to presume that results have been attained and that the only thing that remains to be done is to concern oneself with the System for Quality Management (SQG) next year. On the contrary, it is a must that all, henceforth, view it as a powerful tool towards reaching company objectives. Correct applying of the SGQ will lead BHS to Customer Satisfaction, to Continuous Improvement in Results and Processes, ceaselessly monitoring all of the processes by means of Indicators to afford an assessment of Performance, to show where lie our strengths and our weaknesses - where there is room for improvement.
It is important, more and more so, that we assess the procedures for organization and their respective indicators, to identify problems that must be viewed as an opportunity for improvement. Fundamental it is to pin-point the causes and take measures that will do away with them with a view to curbing reincidence. Another important point is to identify potential problems - those that have not yet occurred, but that may occur - namely, the so-called Preventive Action that should be the most efficient form of consistently improving an organization. BHS has several tools to apply such as RAP - Report on Preventive Action, to implement improvements in the SGQ - System for Quality Management; Relper (Report on Danger), directed at implementing Preventive Action in Safety in Flight; and FCA - Fact, Cause, and Action, for taking action in Maintenance.
The tools for a process of Continued Improvement are available. The prime concern of the BHS Quality Committee is to further ensure monitoring and constant up-dating of the SGQ - System for Quality Management. The Quality Committee includes staff-members Vládia Souza, Carlos Malagrino, and Ana Cláudia Galvão, SGQ Board Representative. Other members are to join the committee (comitedaqualidade@bhs-helicopteros.com.br) in the not too distant future. The most important feature at the present time is the participation of all in the real application of this process of Continued Improvement that will enable BHS to attain the main objective, namely, to be Number 1 - Itiban.
